“They probably thought because I won’t talk to them, I guess people got worried. If my mom ain’t callin’ or my brother or my best friend, ain’t nothing to worry about. The officer pulled me over, he just had to do procedures. I snapped, ‘Who the heck reported something like that? No, why would I commit suicide?’ “

Timbaland was calling from the studio, where he is currently putting the final touches on Keri Hilson’s new album.

“I’m in the studio,” he said. “I don’t know if a person committing suicide would be in the studio.”

Seriously? I hope this is an exaggeration, but according to reports, Timbaland‘s family freaked out when he lost it over a missing $2 million watch and took off driving…

According to sources, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department put out a “possible suicide attempt” APB just before 5 PM PT yesterday. A helicopter and squad cars went on the hunt for the rapper/producer’s Escalade.

Here’s what we’re told happened … Timbaland was on the phone earlier in the day with his brother-in-law … deeply upset about something. We’re told one of the things that was eating at him was a theft at his Malibu residence a day before. Someone had stolen a crazy expensive Jacob & Co. watch — valued at $2 million — and Timbaland suspected it might have been someone he trusted.

Timbaland left his home yesterday and began driving. Family members couldn’t locate him, became extremely worried and called the Sheriff’s Department.

We’re told the helicopter located the Escalade, ground crews pulled Timbaland over and began talking to him. At some point they put Timbaland in a patrol car and took him to his residence, where they continued speaking with him and family members. [TMZ]

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft and have possible suspects.

Sigh. Please don’t tell me he as an album coming out too.

This story is so sad. Timbaland is such a great artist and producer and he has shaped modern urban music from rap to r&b. Timbalands music videos and his rap songs have been phenomenally successful and his rap songs for other artists have been fantastic too. I watch all the latest Rap & Hip hop music videos and R&B music videos and most of them have some Timbaland influences in there somewhere. He truly is an innovator and so I would like to say how relieved i am that he is ok and hopefully this was just an unfounded rumor.
