Set to face Rihanna in court today, Chris Brown has ended a nearly 4 month legal drama related to their altercation the weekend of this years Grammys.

According to MSNBC:

Chris Brown’s lawyer says a plea deal has been reached in the singer’s felony assault case.

The announcement was made moments before a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles was set to begin.

Brown’s alleged victim, Rihanna, had been on standby to testify on Monday.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, says the deal includes five years of supervised probation and six months of community labor. Brown is pleading to felony assault.

The judge expressed some concerns because Brown is not a California resident, but it appears Brown will be allowed to do his community service in his home state of Virginia.

The judge also issued a “stay-away” order, prohibiting Brown from making contact with the victim. If Brown violates his probation, he could face up to four years in prison.

This makes him a convicted felon. But hey, so is Martha Stewart. Rihanna escaped having to testify, which is what I was looking forward to… oh well. I am sure he is glad to have this part past him. Now he need to get with T.I.’s PR team on that community service.

More details to come as they develop…
