If you are waiting for the Tupac Shakur life story to finally hit the big screen, don’t hold your breath because the potential film is locked up in a legal battle between the production company, Morgan Creek, and Afeni Shakur, his mother and executor of his estate.

According to Billboard, Morgan Creek has sued Amaru Entertainment, the company run by Afeni Shakur, alleging in a Los Angeles Superior Court filing that the company has backed out of an agreement to sell his life rights for a film adaptation.

Morgan Creek claiming that Amaru is “refus(ing) to honor and perform a contract of a production of the film based on the life of Tupac Shakur.” The company seeks damages and other relief.

However, Amaru’s attorney Skip Miller denied the existence of a deal. “There is no agreement with Morgan Creek, there never was, and there never will be.” He goes on to say that negotiations for a biopic were underway at several studios and that Morgan Creek attempted to sabotage those talks with threats of litigation. “They have scared away Paramount, Fox and others, and we are going to sue them and recover millions (in damages),” Miller said.

Note: This one won’t be starring Anthony Mackie because I hear he was so not a good Tupac in Notorious… Has there ever been a good portrayal of Tupac by an actor? I know the one in the MC Hammer tv movie was poo poo! Who is a good actor that could play him?

I have been waiting for this movie to be made for the longest. I really really hope it happens. Everyone who has ever portrayed Pac has done a horrible job. There is no one I can see in Hollywood that can portray him. They might need to get a newly discovered actor/rapper.

This is probably a good thing. I really cant see any actor out today that can really capture the essence of what tupac represented… definitely not Anthony Mackie but I cant put my finger on who could play the part naturally, where his mannerism weren’t overexaggerated but natural.
