Here some recent updates on the continuing drama involving Rihanna and Chris Brown…

  • Chris Brown lost another endorsement with Milk… [insert "does a body good" joke here]
  • Covergirl is standing by Rihanna and will continue to air her current campaign commercials.
  • Rihanna and Chris are both up for NAACP Awards this Thursday, my guess is that neither will be making appearances. This reminds me that I met a young CB about 4 years ago at the NAACP Awards. He was sweet, quiet, and he was so nervous when he won his award, thanking the NCAA which was quite hilarious.
  • The DA in Los Angeles is asking the LAPD for further investigation related to the case… Spokeswoman Jane Robison did not release information on the nature of the case police presented to prosecutors Tuesday, and she says the district attorney’s office will have no further comment pending the investigation. As I posted earlier, Rihanna is said to be cooperating with police in the investigation.
  • The 21st birthday party in NYC planned for Rihanna by her label Def Jam has been canceled. The big bash, planned for Feb. 20th, was to have about 200 or so guests was to have had a carnival theme with various “sideshow” attractions, says a source familiar with the planning.
  • New rumors include Rihanna starting the fight in the car, attacking him after finding a chick’s number in his phone. More buzz around him breaking up with her 2 weeks before and that the weekend was full of arguments and tension, with a public fight at the Verizon pre-Grammy party and visible anger when they arrived at the Clive Davis party.

Of course everyone has something to say about the ongoing drama including her former tourmate, Kanye West.

“She has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time and, in that sense, I feel like that’s my baby sis and I would do any and everything to help her in any situation,” the “Stronger” wordsmith told E! News’ Ryan Seacrest this morning. “I don’t want to speak more into the specifics with that situation, but all I’ll say is it’s just so devastating.

“I feel like, just as a person, I don’t care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald’s, that should never happen. It should never come to that place.”

Relatives of both are also weighing in. Rihanna’s grandmother Clara Brathwaite reportedly told Barbadian newspaper Daily Nation Monday that fans shouldn’t worry about her granddaughter’s health.

“I don’t want people to worry,” Brathwaite explained. “Rihanna is fine and she is doing well.”

The Barbados-born singer’s grandmother also shot down speculation that Rihanna endured a broken nose during the spat.

Chris Brown’s former step-father says that he wouldn’t be surprised if what has been reported is true. However this is the same man that Chris recalls as being abusive to him and his mother in his Giant Magazine interview.

Donnelle Hawkins, spoke exclusively to Access Hollywood for the first time since Brown was arrested for criminal threats in connection with an alleged violent incident with a woman reported to be the singer’s girlfriend Rihanna on Sunday morning.

“[Chris] has to take responsibility for his own actions,” Hawkins told Access.

When asked if he believed reports about the alleged incident involving Brown were true, Hawkins said, “I wouldn’t be surprised.”

I always feel like relatives that speak to press in times like these are looking for exposure, but that’s neither hear nor there. I just want to hear directly from either one or at least their direct camp, these anonymous sources can easily be the local cashier at KFC.
