Cadillac Records Drives in at No. 9

Four Christmases came in at number 1 again this week, and for good reason. It is the most hilarious movie I’ve seen in a minute. I laughed so much through this movie, mainly at Vince Vaugh. Dude is effin’ silly!

Unfortunately for Cadillac Records, the week wasn’t so great, opened this weekend at number 9 with $3.5 million. I’m hear decent reviews from those that went to see the movie, despite not-so-great reviews from the critics. MSNBC called the movie “flat,” while the Washinton Post describes it as “bloated and too fast-paced.” Eh…

Also if you are expecting to see Beyonce star through out the movie, be forewarned she is only toward the last part of the movie. I think it’s pretty crappy they didn’t promote the other stars like Jeffery Wright who I always feel is the most underrated actor.

I have yet to see it, may not before it comes on DVD, but I know the critics can be stuffy and pretentious about films so I say judge for yourself. I’m a sucker for music-based movies so I’m sure I won’t hate it. Just don’t look for the next “Dreamgirls” phenomenon.

I do however think that it is pretty awesome that Beyonce donated her salary for the film to the Pheonix House, where she visited women recovering from drug addiction to prepare for her role.
